Thanks to 'Faith' and 'gvcool2' for the head's up on this bit of casting news as writer/director Rob Zombie -- the man who seemed to have started a very unique trajectory in his horror movie-making career, only to fall victim to the "remake bug" that everyone and their great-aunt seems to be getting these days -- announced via his MySpace Blog that he has cast the first person in his remake of John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN (or "re-imagining"...whatever), and is it the great Malcolm McDowell in the part made famous by the late Donald Pleasance of Dr. Loomis. Here's what Zombie had to say, specifically: "Well, the wait is over. Dr. Loomis is none other than the great MALCOLM McDOWELL! I am thrilled to have Malcolm on board. He is ready to kick ass and make a new horror classic." So who will play the lead role that Jamie Lee Curtis made famous? My pick: Salma Hayek...but maybe that's just me!!

Craptastic
I'll never give in to the remake bug, no matter what the f*** you call it. Zombie blows as a movie maker to begin with, and putting that in combo with f***ing up Carpenter's masterpiece is a recipe for a sh*tburger if you ask me.

P.S. Malcolm McDowell is great...too bad he'll be attached to this.

Great choice
I have yet to see Halloween, but if the doctor is bad, then McDowell is a great choice.

He had such a haunting performance in 'A Clockwork Orange', and is such a talented actor.

I think this is a good choice. I havent seen him in many moves at all lately....maybe this will boost his notoriety a little bit

Casting Hotness aside and focusing on an actress right for the role, I would lean to someone like emmy rossum, vulnerable and cute yet tough

Dude, fuck picking and choosing.

I say all three of them star in the film. And then have a three-way.

Dude, every guy would cast Jessica Alba in any role that requires a hot girl.

I say Thora Birch.
