Surely you, the average high-stylin’ JoBlo reader will know who Tom Ford is. The world famous fashion designer responsible for the turnaround of Gucci in the ‘90s who is biting Keira Knightley's ear on that Vanity Fair cover? Yeah I thought so.

Well anyway, the man is now expanding his life’s ambitions into directing, and this is a trailer for his first feature film, A SINGLE MAN, which is alredy garnering praise at the few festivals it’s shown at. The movie stars Colin Firth, Juliannne Moore, Matthew Goode, Ginnifer Goodwin and Nicolas Hout, and if you can manage to tell me just what the hell is going on in this trailer, you win a prize.

I may not have any idea what’s happening here, but I like it. Check it out below.

Extra Tidbit: I think there’s an inverse rule between how good your trailer is and the amount of talking in it.

I can't see the trailer right now cause my computer is fried but I saw this at TIFF this year. It's a pretty good movie overall and an excellent debut but it's not the masterpiece that it wants to be. Firth's character changes too suddenly for me over the course of the day and I don't really get enough of a sense of progression or layering in his character in the writing. That said, Firth plays...
That said, Firth plays his role convincingly and gives his character more dimensions than exist in the script. The framing is mostly elegant although the movie's technique of intensifying colors at moments when Firth "appreciates" life kind of bothered me - the oversaturated style of these parts looked unnatural and gross rather than the vivacity it was supposed to convey to me.

Oh and I dug Julianne Moore a lot in it. She really only has one big sequence in the film (with some minor appearances before that) but I think she has a lot of fun with her part.
