Angelina Jolie is starting work on a love story set during the Bosnian War

During a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital of Sarajevo this weekend, actress Angelina Jolie (THE TOURIST, SALT) revealed that she would be filming a love story set during the 1992-95 Bosnian War. Though it’s not explicitly said, it’s presumed that Jolie would at the very least be producing the film.

According to Reuters, the story tells “the tale of a couple who meet on the eve of the war and the effect it has on their relationship.” Jolie also makes clear her intentions for the project in a statement issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR): “The film is a love story, not a political statement.”

The actress (along with arm candy Brad Pitt) met members of the country’s inter-ethnic presidency to discuss ways of helping thousands of returning war refugees. Perhaps by putting them in the movie?

She said the movie’s cast would be comprised of actors from the various ethnicities of the former Yugoslavia. “I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can.”

The untitled love story is said to be starting production this fall.
