HOPE ITS BETTER
The DaVinci Code was definitely an odd movie to watch. You almost can't hate on it too much because you can tell they're trying. It just feels like Howard didn't want to leave out one detail from the book, and in return you have a jam packed movie.
For this one, I think he needs to realize that this IS a movie, and it may be necassary to edit some parts from the book. |

The Da Vinci book was not "Outstanding".
Even for a pulp thriller, it was rather blah. Not a literary masterpiece by any means.
It got lucky with some hype and picking on a few urban legends that happened to catch the imagination of people. |

ANGELS AND DEMONS, OH MY...
as an avid reader and movie buff, i have to say, the film version of da vinci kind of sucked. In all honesty, the book, while being a little "out there" in its theories and so-called hidden messages in art, etc, was a rollicking good read. It really clipped along at a fast pace, with just about every chapter being a cliffhanger of sorts. I couldnt put it down for the awesome pacing.
i tried his other books, which were just "o.k.", not as good as da vinci, but a good read. A and D iirc had one stupid part where our hero survives a fall out of a helicopter from height, which god forbid makes it onscreen, thats just too much "forgive and believe" for my tastes. Da Vinci as a film just blew chunks. You know when critics blast a guys hair, theres hardly anything to talk about for the actual film (shades of nic cage top 10 'do's)?? i suppose as i have been driving a smart car for 4 years, it was kind of cool at the time to see one in a movie, but even that scene sucked. This needs a super fast pace to succeed, a la Bourne. |

Yay! More adventures of Tom Hanks and his ridiculous toupee! Hopefully, Ron Howard has learned his mistakes from the first one. |
