GET YOUR STINKING PAWS OFF....
my original Planet of the Apes flics! They were great prepubescent fare and great memories come form them. If you're going to do them, stay more w/the originals and let's not get to artsy fartsy huh?

luke319 makes a very good point. Bad movies are made by bad directors with shitty scripts. Look at the last two Batman films before Nolan and Bale. They were terrible, but bring in a talented writer/director and properly cast the film and it becomes awesome. I can't say I thought the ape remake was great but it wasn't terrible. Get a good director with a good script and cast it well it could be great. |

COOL IDEA
Although, I agree with you that its annoying how Hollywood continues to make "uncreative" films I believe this could be an interesting spin on the series. It is taking a distant future event and bringing it to reality by making it happen in 2009. Personally, I have thought about having a movie like this since I saw the first one. |

When compared to the original saga, Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes is inferior. It's got some great moments but overall just doesn't cut it. It lacks the great social commentary that the originals had seeped within. A remake of Conquest piques my interest, especially when you hear that the original had drastic cuts in the editing room. If they could keep it in line with the original and restore the hard hitting brutality with the blatant commentary of racism in the world, I'm all for it. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. |

Burton's apes sucked ape balls.
Watching it with your brain on is not recommended. Looking directly at Helena B Carter's inexplicable ape eyebrows is not recommended either.
At least Burton finally cast a black actor in one of his films... oh wait, he played a dumb ape...
thanks Tim! did i mention your films suck? |

LOVED IT.
I LOVED the Burton Apes. It was a well-done movie, in my opinion. |

I liked Burton's Apes alot actually. Very close to the original to me. I would have loved to see a sequel to it. I'll have to wait and see for this prequel though. |

Conquest was a pretty solid movie in the series, and the whole "Apes" series worked well as a whole (except maybe the second one.)
Do they really feel the need to blemish the series any further? and is there even a market for this? BAD IDEA. |

I didn't hate Burton's POTA 'reimagining'.
Would've been a braver film if they'd started where they ended though, so if they absolutely have to carry it on, Conquest is the film i'd like to see the most, though i'd prefer a slightly futuristic dystopian angle to just setting it in the present day. I've been waiting for a decent cyborg gorilla movie for years. |
