Halloween 6 Uncut!
Dec. 14, 2007
Alright, the fact that there's an uncut version of HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS out there isn't any kind of news. The thing's been floating around horror conventions and what-not for years, but the news I'm bringing today is that you may be able to pick up the uncut version soon... non-bootleg!
I'm not a fan of bootlegged stuff. It's just hard to get into a flick with such bad quality. And I hear good things about HALLOWEEN 6 uncut, so I've been wanting to see it. So this is good news to me.
The man who wrote HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS, Daniel Farrands, recently talked to Fangoria and dropped the news. He stated how he has been trying to get Miramax to bite for years:
“It’s going to be the subject of a conference call that I’m having with Miramax. I’ve finally gotten somebody’s attention over there. I have been in touch with them over the years, and during the past month I’ve had e-mail exchanges with everyone from their home video marketing people to their legal affairs department. The long but sad answer is that first, no one could figure out who had the rights. The movies Dimension made at the time when they were funded by Disney have reverted back to Disney, so they own the sixth, seventh and eighth HALLOWEENs, and the Weinsteins no longer have the rights. But not only did Disney not know they had them, they did a cost analysis [once they were informed], looked at it and said, ‘We don’t think it will make any money.’"
No money? For shame! I know I'd definately pick up a copy. Sure, THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS came out of left field with the whole Thorn thing... but I've forgiven them for it and actually think CURSE isn't half bad. Farrands' selling point was that CURSE on DVD is now out of print, so it's not making anymore money anyway:
And Farrands even mentioned how he's pushing for a huge 2 disc special edition:
"We could do a two-disc version with the producer’s cut and the theatrical version, commentaries, behind-the-scenes and everything."
Hopefully this pans out. To check out a couple other things Farrands had to say, you can head over here. Like I said, I'd definately pick one up. What about you?
