Insects invade Argentina!

Seems like every other week we've got news of an end of the world and/or alien-invasion film. Not complaining mind you, I love that stuff - especially when giant insects are involved.

Which brings me to EL ETERNAUTA, a horror/sci-fi epic to be written and directed by Lucrecia Martel (pictured), who is currently in Cannes promoting her film THE WOMAN WITHOUT A HEAD (which is about amnesia, not a decapitated chick).

Beginning with a deadly snow settling over Buenos Aires, “Eternauta” follows a small group of survivors battling alien invaders and their army of giant insects.

Although it's not mentioned in the article in Variety, it would appear this is based on an Argentinean science fiction comic series of the same name. To check out its Wiki page, click it HERE!

Lucrecia Martel is a fantastic director. I loved both LA CIENAGA and THE HOLY GIRL. But judging from her style I can pretty much say this won't be a run of the mill alien invasion movie.
