Strike Back below!

There’s a new action/horror production called OBLIVION ROAD which filmmaker Blane Suizu currently has in an early planning stage. As of now, there is no revealed plot, no cast of characters, or whether it will be a film or comic or both. However there sure is an initial dose of awesome from ROAD’s preliminary concept art and teaser poster shown above and below!

The artwork was created by David Allcock, who served as a storyboard artist on the upcoming flicks MUTANT CHRONICLES and THE DARK COUNTRY. As for that vintage-style poster, it comes to us compliments of Stephen Romano (scripter of the still-in-preproduction BUBBA HO-TEP sequel BUBBA NOSFERATU AND THE CURSE OF THE SHE-VAMPIRES).

Judging from the images both above and below, I’m guessing that OBLIVION ROAD is attempting to come across in the same vein as 70’s Grindhouse-style flicks with shades of THE ROAD WARRIOR and I AM LEGEND. The poster’s tagline simply says, “They were the fortunate ones who survived. They thought the end of the world was their biggest problem. They were wrong.”

And get this, to raise money for the project, Suizu will be selling his illustrations in limited edition prints. All proceeds raised will be going directly to OBLIVION ROAD’s budget. I wish the guy luck. I like all that I’ve seen thus far and wouldn’t mind driving down this ROAD in whatever future incarceration it receives.
