It's no secret that I'm a big David Fincher fan. The man can do no wrong in my eyes. I love all of his work, from SEVEN to FIGHT CLUB to ZODIAC. I've been dying to see THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON and hear that's pretty good as well. The man knows how to direct a great movie. It doesn't hurt that he's constantly collaborating with Brad Pitt either. That fellow is one fine actor. Fresh off Fincher's BENJAMIN BUTTON success, it seems the subject of a SEVEN sequel is creeping back up again.

While promoting Mr. BUTTON, Fincher recently held a Q&A at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. When asked about a sequel to SEVEN, Fincher simply stated: "I would be less interested in that than I would in having cigarettes put out in my eyes."

Well that's putting it bluntly. I get the feeling the man isn't interested. He added: "I keep trying to get out from under my own shadow. I don't want to do the same shit over and over." Well that's understandable Mr. Fincher, BENJAMIN BUTTON is case and point. But I ask, if it's not broken, why fix it? Though to be honest, I'm completely against a sequel to SEVEN. That movie was brilliant all the way through, why taint that with a sequel? Just leave it as is.

This proposed SEVEN sequel had the potential to be about a lot of things. The main focus for the film seemed to be around Morgan Freeman's Detective Somerset. A couple ideas for this sequel would have Somerset dealing with a long lost Deadly Sin or Mr. Somerset gaining clairvoyant abilities to help him track a psychic killer. Yeah... let's let this sequel stay dead.

I don't think Gwyneth Paltrow would be back... well at least not in one piece.
