L.A. Dolph Fest!

Those of you action fanatics lucky enough to live in L.A. (that's something I don't say very often) should mark APRIL 18th on your calendars. That's because for $10 you get to see FIVE Dolph Lundgren flicks in a row! It's all going down at the New Beverly Theater - the flicks in question are ROCKY IV, RED SCORPION, THE PUNISHER, I COME IN PEACE, and UNIVERSAL SOLDIER. Can't exactly beat that with a bat, can you? (To be perfectly honest, I'm partial to I COME IN PEACE, myself. Have always had a soft spot for that kooky piece of work.)

And here's a bonus date: FEBRUARY 28th. That's when they're showing ROADHOUSE, featuring The Swayze. For more info, hit up the New Beverly Midnights Myspace Page.

Jean-Claude Updates

From one Universal Soldier to another. Jean-Claude Van Damme's post-JCVD film, THE EAGLE PATH, has got itself a very cool Myspace Page, which you can gawk at right HERE. There you can find a heapin' helping of stills, interviews, posters, and so forth for the TAXI DRIVER-esque thriller, which stars Van Damme as an ex-G.I. turned cab driver who crosses paths with a mysterious woman. The flick looks like it's continuing Jean-Claude's recent foray into more thoughtful cinema - although let's face it, there's going to be some heads busted no matter what.

JCVD has got more up his sleeve, however. He's planning a new martial arts film that's in the same vein as BLOODSPORT called THE PIT BULL. The man has a lot to say on the subject, so to read a long, long response to the question "Could you set the record straight about what you are working on?", head on over to Twitchfilm.net.

By the way, JCVD hits DVD on APRIL 28th.

Lastly, here's a couple of UNIVERSAL SOLDIERS: THE NEXT GENERATION photos. Looks like these bruised and battered bastards are having a ball! (Although unfortunately word is that Dolph appears only in a glorified cameo...)

FAST AND FURIOUS poster

I really never got into this franchise. Maybe it's because I don't love cars as much as everyone else. (Hey, I live in New York City - the f*ck do I need with a car?) Maybe it's because I'm not a big Vin Diesel fan. Or maybe it's because I saw the first movie, thought it sucked, and vowed to never watch another entry. It's a real mystery...

But because I know it has its fans, I'll give the poster for FAST AND FURIOUS a little love, although I don't really know why; it's as unimaginative as the title. But I guess they just let the strong performances and quality writing do all the talking...

I do, however, enjoy me some Jordana Brewster... You'll be able to see her and the gang back together again - finally! - in April.

And on the next REEL ACTION...

KILL YA NEXT WEEK WITH MORE ACTION!

I love that pic of Silvia Saint at the end. Nice to see some appreciation to 80/90's cheesy action films.
