Wonderful Afterlife pstr

At the beginning of the month, I got the word out on an upcoming horror/comedy of India descent called IT’S A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE. Beyond it’s clever title, I believe that this flick is boasting some major potential. And now, the first teaser poster up top only adds positively to the cause. Does it stop there? Hell no! The full plot synopsis is now out in the open and let me tell ya, you really have to read it to believe it:

MRS. SETHI, a widow, can't bear the thought of her daughter being alone and unhappy. Okay, she's a little plump and opinionated, but she'd make a great wife for some lucky man, if only she were given a chance. When MRS. SETHI can no longer stomach the rudeness of families who refuse her daughter, she takes matters into her own hands with the only way she knows...Suddenly a police hunt begins for a serial murderer who cooks a killer curry. MRS. SETHI doesn't feel too guilty until the SPIRITS of her victims come back to haunt her - complete with tandooried bodies and kebab skewered heads, they're unable to be reincarnated until their murderer dies. MRS. SETHI has no problem killing herself she'll get to see her dead husband again but how can she go before her daughter is married? The SPIRITS realize that helping Mrs Sethi daughter find a suitable husband before the police catch her is their only chance for a wonderful afterlife.

Wild. Ridiculous. Original. Fun. Those are the words that spring to mind. It kinda does seem like a horror/comedy to die for. AFTERLIFE is coming from the creative mind of writer/director Gurinder Chadha (BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM). The cast is said to include Shabana Azmi in the lead, newcomer Goldy Notay, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Shaheen Khan (also from BECKHAM), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (HEROES). Filming is set to being this next month.

Spilled Blood: With the themes of suicide, spirits helping a troubled living soul, and family, AFTERLIFE seems to be parodying more of Frank Capra’s Christmas classic than just the title.
