KENNETH JOHNSON'S original "lizard aliens in disguise come to earth to exploit it and us as their food" mini series V (1983) is one of my favorite TV offerings of all time. V THE FINAL BATTLE (1984) and even the cheesy TV SERIES that followed it also cranked my dial. Yup, always been a big V fan! So I was in a tizzy when I heard that ABC was re-imagining the original mini series for today's audience... that's until I saw the PROMO & TEASER below.

Not that this new V THE SERIES (directed by Canuck YVES SIMONEAU) looks awful or anything, it just doesn't feel "V" enough for this jerk. I miss the Nazi parallels and the cool alien costumes. This update has its visitors look like rejects from the O.C.or something. I don't know... something's "off". But hey this is coming from somebody that LOVES the original V, so I am biased.

With that yapped, I'll definitely tap it when it airs in early 2010 on ABC, out of morbid curiosity and fanboy nostalgia. So what do you V and non V fans think? Will you catch this new incarnation on the tube? Spit bullets below!

Spilled Blood: The last book I read was Kenneth Johnson's V: The Second Generation (Johnson's sequel to the first V - one that ignored The Final battle) and I really dug it.

The cool alien voices were also absent in the V TV series that followed both mini series (due to lack of budget). This update obviously has the coin though - I agree, should have had the voices...

I'll take a wait and see approach to this. I also LOVED the original [link] Robert England as that "nice" alien? If they have anything as cool as the birth scene in the series...it may end up pretty cool.

Totally forgot about the Nazis. Man, it's been a long time since I watched the original. I think the new one will be different, but good. Looks good so far. But then again I love LOST, so how could I not give Elizabeth Mitchell a chance?
