THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (2009) - August 18th
I'm going to go ahead and add this on the list of "Best Remakes Ever Made." It's not a list I update lightly, but the film floored me with it's overall brutality, sickening tone, and pleasurable pay-off at the end. It also features one of the hardest rape scenes to watch ever... nothing like feeling super uncomfortable in a theater full of people! And now you can feel super uncomfortable in the comfort of your own home. Wait, that doesn't make any sense. Anyway, chalk this one up as a must own this August.
The Goods:
FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII (DELUXE EDITION) - September 15th
Once you chain Jason to the bottom of the lake it's hard to figure out how to have him come back. Throw in a chick with telekinesis powers who thinks Jason is her dead dad, and you have the perfect opportunity for a sequel! I'm a fan of THE NEW BLOOD mostly cause it brought the series to another level, and because of the scene with the flying axe. What an awesome kill... and now you can have it remastered, yo! With a cool 3D cover, no less. Dig the new cover more than some of the other DELUXE EDITIONS, and there's enough features to make this one worth your while.

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII (DELUXE EDITION) - September 15th
If they would have called this one BOOZE CRUISE JASON I would have been a lot happier, and I think so would many others who were duped to believe this is where Jason really did take Manhattan. He does... but only for about 10 minutes. Most of the kills are on a boat with a cast of dumbass kids just waiting to die. They could have made the Manhattan angle a surprise, and I think it would have been better received. Ah well. Live and learn.

NIGHT OF THE CREEPS - October 20th
Finally. After years of bullshit promises and all sorts of other happy horseshit rumors, NIGHT OF THE CREEPS is getting the DVD treatment, and not just any ordinary treatment, but some really fleshed out and meaty treatment! Look at all those features! From the tagline, to the slugs jumping across the lawn, to the flashbacks of the axe murder from the 50s, this movie rocks harder than anything I know. Seriously, all slug movies fall short of reaching the level of awesomeness as NIGHT OF THE CREEPS. Let's hope it finds an even larger fan base with this release.
The Goods:
KING KONG VS GODZILLA –September 15th – Because we've been waiting for years for this fight. Bring it!
SLICES – August 4th – Because this cover makes me feel dirty just looking at it.
HARPERS ISLAND - September 8th – Because I gave this show a half an episode of my life, and I just couldn't get into it. Maybe DVD will help it get better... doubtful, though.
