AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON: FULL MOON EDITION (DVD/Blu-ray) - September 15th

One of the greatest werewolf movies ever made is getting the Full Moon Edition treatment for DVD and Blu-Ray. Besides the crappy Full Moon Edition (why give it a silly subtitle like that? really?), the new cover rocks pretty hard... mostly because it's a glorified version of the original and doesn't rely too heavily on photoshop antics. This may be the fifth or sixth release we've seen, and it may end of up being the best.. at least the cover's the coolest. Now the big question is... will we ever see a werewolf movie that rivals what John Landis did here? No. I don't think so.

The Goods:

  • Commentary wtih Cast Members David Naughton and Griffin Dunne
  • Feature length "Beware The Moon" documentary
  • ”I Walked With A Werewolf" featurette
  • "Making An American Werewolf in London" featurette
  • "Makeup Artist Rick Baker on An American Werewolf in London" featurette
  • "Casting of the Hand" featurette
  • Interview with John Landis
  • Outtakes
  • Storyboards
  • Photograph Montage.

JOHN CARPENTER: MASTER OF FEAR COLLECTION - September 15th

Most times when these DVD collections are thrown together, you get one or two awesome flicks paired with one or two crappy flicks. However, that's not really true with the John Carpenter collection, as you can see, all of the flicks in the collection are f*cking awesome--they just vary in how awesome they actually are. THE THING being at the top, followed by THEY LIVE, and a straight-up tie between PRINCE OF DARKNESS and VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED. One thing's for sure... this here is the perfect opportunity to ramp up your Carpenter collection at home in one fatal swoop. Also, talk about a kick-ass cover!

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
  • THE THING
  • THEY LIVE
  • PRINCE OF DARKNESS
  • VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED

ARMY OF DARKNESS: SCREWHEAD EDITION - September 15th

There are probably 14 previous editions of ARMY OF DARKNESS out there, and I'm gonna go ahead and say that this is, by far, the coolest f*cking cover of the bunch! I mean, wow! I'm a huge fan of the 'classic' poster, and they finally got it right and used it on the DVD, then made it cooler with the white background. Not sure if the 'From the Director of Spider-Man and Drag Me To Hell' was needed, but hey... I ain't complaining! Hell, I might just need to double-dip to get a hold of this new cover. See this? This here is a geekgasim, people!

    The Goods:

  • Creating the Deadites featurette
  • Alternate ending
  • Theatrical trailer

    DVD Covers:

    Honorable Mentions:

LAWNMOWER MAN COLLECTION –September 15th – Because who doesn't get a kick out of Jeff Fahey. That guy's awesome!

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE COLLECTION – September 15th – Because you can never get enough Leatherface in your diet.

HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILLL COLLECTION - September 15th – Because the fist one rocked and the second one is fun... if you're high.

Yo McaceronM! Personally, I thought HOHH rocked! Still one of my favorite guilty pleasures in horror. I fucking HATED F13 (the remake) but I'm still a big fan of the original. This here isn't an ode to Arrow but my own opinion... we just happen to have similar tastes, that's all.

And yeah, the ARMY OF DARKNESS DVD is gonna rock. =)
