DRAG ME TO HELL - October 13th

One of the better horror movies released in a long time is coming to DVD just in time for the prime Halloween holiday season! Heck yes! I flippin' loved this movie in the theater, as it was not only humorous, but it was scary, had some killer sequences, and showed us that Sam Raimi hasn't lost it. The guy's a flippin' legend, and this is a perfect example as to why. Plus, they kept the super-sweet cover art! Oh yeah, and it's the Unrated Director's Cut! Woot.

The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track
  • Unrated director's cut
  • Theatrical cut
  • Production video diaries

TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN - October 20th

From the most awesome horror movie in a while to one of the shittiest movies of the summer... just like that. Why is TRANSFORMERS 2 hitting theaters in time for Halloween? I have no idea. Because it's scary how f*cking awful this thing was, or how scary that a movie that blows this much ass can make that much money? Yeah, I guess it is somewhat of a horror show. And just look at all those features! Not only do you get to spend nearly 3 hours with the movie, but it's out to suck another 6 hours out of you just in special features. Yeesh.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track
  • Commentary by Michael Bay, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman
  • The Human Factor: Exacting Revenge of the Fallen—This multi-chapter documentary chronicles the entire creation of the film and includes interviews with the cast and crew:
o Seeds of Vengeance - Development and Design - After the overwhelming success of 2007’s Transformers, how do the filmmakers top themselves for the sequel?
o Domestic Destruction – Production: United States - Michael Bay believes in going big: Big action and big explosions. Cast and crew are pushed to the limit as they traverse the U.S. from New Mexico to Pennsylvania.
o Joint Operations – Production: Military - No other filmmaker in the world enjoys the kind of military access and cooperation Michael Bay has. Here we see just how efficient our armed forces are and the awe and respect shown by the cast.
o Wonders of the World – Production: Middle East - You can’t really reproduce Egypt anywhere but Egypt so off we go to Giza and Luxor.
o Start Making Sense - Editing - In order to turn over the massive amount of film as quickly as possible to VFX, four editors work tirelessly in a unique tag-team approach to shape the film.
o Under the Gun – Visual Effects – Revenge of the Fallen features the most complicated VFX in film history. So complicated in fact that the filmmakers were unsure they would make the deadline. The DEVASTATOR VFX alone required 83% of ILM’s total render farm capacity.
o Running the Gauntlet – Post-Production and Release - Working seven days a week, Michael Bay and company usher the film through sound design, Digital Intermediate color-timing and a globe-trotting whirlwind of premieres.

  • A Day with Bay: Tokyo—An intimate and fun all-access journey with Michael Bay as he travels to Tokyo, Japan tor the world premiere of the biggest film of the year.
  • 25 Years of TRANSFORMERS—Access an all-new featurette celebrating a monumental milestone for one of Hasbro’s most successful and popular franchises.
  • NEST: Transformer Data-Hub—Explore conceptual artwork created by the production for 12 of the most popular AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS from the film.
  • Deconstructing Visual Bayhem with Commentary by Pre-Vis Supervisor Steve Yamamoto— A series of multi-angle pre-visualization sequences allowing viewers to learn how some of the film’s most spectacular scenes were created with an introduction by Michael Bay.
  • Extended Scenes
  • Music Video: Linkin Park’s “New Divide”

    TRICK 'R TREAT - October 6th

Ah, ok, back to awesome horror movies. Another Halloween release, this one may be the most fitting to have an October date. After years and years and years of waiting and waiting for this flippin' movie to come out, and here we go... it's finally released. They could have pimped out the disc a bit more, but beggers can't be choosers--we should just be happy that WB finally grew a pair and is releasing the flick, albeit a few years later than originally expected. Trick or treat, indeed! Dig this cover!

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English 5.1 Stereo Surround
  • "Trick ’R Treat: Season’s Greetings" feature
  • Optional commentary by Director Michael Dougherty

WRONG TURN 3: LEFT FOR DEAD - October 20th

I personally haven't been all that pumped for the WRONG TURN series since.. well, since the first one. I missed the second one (on purpose), and now there's a third film to entertain... or disappoint, depending on you are. That's right, I thought the first one was disappointing and lame. Will the third follow in its footsteps or be better? We can only hope. The tagline here is especially funny to me (What You Can't See Will Kill You), because it's saying that everything out of your vision is going to kill you. Wow. Now I'm scared.

    The Goods:

  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track

    DVD Covers:

    Honorable Mentions:

HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW: 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION –November 24th– Because it's the original classic that you gotta see before checking out the remake. Oh wait, this is being released after the remake... nevermind.

HOUSE OF FEARS – November 24th – Because the second HOUSE movie of the day features freaky f*ckin' clowns!

GNAW - October 13th – Because having cannibals over for dinner never gets old!
