THE BOX isn't the only genre flick of interest opening on NOVEMBER 6th - so is THE FOURTH KIND, the alien abduction yarn from Universal and Gold Circle Pictures, starring Milla Jovovich. It should be an interesting competition, as both flicks are vying for the same audience. (You have to wonder why THE BOX wouldn't stick with its original OCTOBER 30th release date, when it might have grabbed some Halloween dough. )

Here we have a few teaser banners, which you'll probably end up seeing around North America starting, well, NOW... The film stars Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas Will Patton and Hakeem Kae Kazim and was directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.

In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document...until now.

Structured unlike any film before it, The Fourth Kind is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where — mysteriously since the 1960s — a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered.

Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, The Fourth Kind exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

More excited for the Box, been hearing good things. I haven't heard much about this yet, but seems like it'll be right up my alley. That and The Box comes out this month here :p

NOT BUYING THE TRAILER/POSTER
They had screenings for this already? Surely your talking about The Forth Kind or Paranormal Activity? Its weird for Universal to have screened this way too early, they normally screen it days early before it is released on the same week. Either your employed with the studio or your yanking our chain.

Saw the movie last night. It was awesome. Not too heavy on jump scares but it's really freaky and disturbing.

4th Kind
I'm looking forward The Fourth Kind. I mean, The Box might be ok, but so far has done nothing for me. I doesn't look interesting. But then again, I'm always looking for good horror movies about aliens, and Fourth Kind certainly looks like good one. Judging by the trailer, that was awesome.

I'm leaning toward "The Fourth Kind"..."The Box" just looks too predictable, kind of like an episode of the Twilight Zone.
