Way back in August (CHECK IT) we got wind that the much anticipated POLTERGEIST remake landed the release date of November 24, 2010, just in time for next Thanksgiving.

But now word is coming down the track from MGM that the film no longer has the November date, and instead has been pushed back and slapped with the general release date of.... 2011. As in, one of the 52 possible release dates in 2011 could be the eventual date, but they're not committing to any right now. So what does this really mean?

It could mean the remake is on hold, or they're expecting delays in the production process, or that it may not ever happen. All that's really known at this point is that you won't be getting fat with Turkey then heading off to the theater for some POLTERGEIST remake action next year.

I for one would be absolutely ecstatic if this silly remake was dropped completely, only because the original still stands strong today, and there simply isn't a need to remake the Tobe Hooper / Steven Spielberg film. I mean, who are they kidding? Do they really think they can top the original?

Stick around for more a officla date, but in the meantime, scratch that November 24, 2010, date from your mind and replace it with sometime in 2011.
