Ever wonder why long running horror maven Robert Englund gravitates toward the macabre? Ever wonder why the man toils endlessly in a genre many deem a step up from pornography? Well, in a new tome entitled “Hollywood Monster: “A Walk Down Elm Street with the Man of Your Dreams” – Englund discusses that and much more at great length.

And courtesy of the horror-heads at FEARnet, the entire first chapter of the book has been made available. In the opener, Englund shares some childhood memories and what drew him to, and eventually made him come to love such dark material. Click Here to brush up on the man’s early life madness!

And for those who think at 62 years of age and being absent of the retooled Platinum Dunes remake of ANOES (2010, replaced by Jackie Earle Haley), rest assured that Englund does have a good handful of horror projects in the works, including a purported sequel to Dee Snider’s STRANGE LAND (currently subtitled as THE DESCIPLE).

Although I can see Earle Haley in the role, especially given his recent creepiness in fare like LITTLE CHILDREN and the trailer for SHUTTER ISLAND, a Freddy flick sans Englund just doesn’t feel like home, does it?

You know who does look like Fred Krueger these days though, and this is a complete non-sequitur, but Paul Shaffer. Man, that fool is straight latex these days. Seriously, next time you get a chance, peep Shaffer and tell me he doesn’t look all of our favorie pedophilic burn victim with a penchant for bad humor. Really!

Spilled Blood: Englund can be soon seen in a horror/thriller called WEB CAM, alongside Charlotte Sullivan (above). Coincidentally, today happens to be Sullivan's 26th birthday. So from all here at AITH, happy b-day Charlotte!
