Robopocalypse optioned
Nov. 3, 2009
Man oh man that DreamWorks machine is in quite a groove as of late. We’ve recently broken news on their optioning of teen thriller properties like WICKED and SOMEONE IN THE DARK, and now we have perhaps even cooler news about robot-race staging a coup against humanity in a dark Sci-Fi tale called ROBOPOCALYPSE.
Officially partnered with Doubleday publishing, DreamWorks has secured the rights to Daniel H. Wilson’s unpublished manuscript, which is loosely tethered to a 2011 release (Wilson is pictured above).
According to Mark Sourian (Co-President of Production at DreamWorks), “Daniel H. Wilson's cautionary tale of man versus machine grabbed us from the very beginning," adding "Wilson's background in robotics and artificial intelligence grounds his story with a frightening level of realism and he has created an exhilarating story that we think audiences will really respond to."
At the prospect of bringing his project to life with the much venerated film studio, writer Daniel H. Wilson states “My hope is that the story we tell will make the robots of the future proud of us humans."
Wow. A robotic uprising that actually reflects well on humans? Beddy, beddy intoo-westing!

Spilled Blood: You all looking forward to DreamWorks' next big release, Peter Jackson's THE LOVELY BONES, starring the above Rachel Weisz?
