Scream 4 update

So it seems MTV has sat down with original SCREAM scribe Kevin Williamson and locked some exclusive details on the upcoming 4th parodic-slasher entry.
In a brief phone-interview, Williamson revealed that while things are “going good” on the script for the 4th film (and first of the new trilogy reboot), he added “I’ve gotta finish that baby.” Williamson also confirmed what we already knew, that being the return of original stars Neve Campbell, as well as David and Courtney (Cox) Arquette. However, Williamson confided those are the only actors from the original set for a come back.
"The fourth one is an ensemble," says Williamson, adding: “it'll take place right now, 10 years later, and it's going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We'll have our three main characters, and we'll be introducing several more." Those several more, as he puts it, will carry over to the next 3 films.
In terms of the whole self-reflexive aspect of the SCREAM series, and given the trend of self-awareness in media today, Williamson mused "I guess I'll just have to be very aware of the fact that we're a '4' and that we're beating a dead dog. I'm going to make that very apparent in the dialogue."
To me, beating a dead dog would mean the return of Rose McGowan (although I think the more apposite phrase would be “beating a dead fox”). Okay, that joke didn’t play as well as it did in my head!

Spilled Blood: Neve Campbell was considered for the role of Danielle Bowden in CAPE FEAR (1991). The role eventually went to Juliette Lewis.
