More Ghost Rider talk
Nov. 4, 2009
Seems like every other month we have someone talking up GHOST RIDER 2. It'll be grittier, it'll be more hardcore, yadda yadda... Basically anything to get us to forget the existence of the first film, which is truly horrid in my opinion. Well, this time is no different, with David Goyer once again talking about his idea for the flick, this time to MTV.
"I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider.'"
"This story picks up eight years after the first film... You don't have to have seen the first film. It doesn't contradict anything that happened in the first film, but we're pretending that our audience hasn't seen the first film. It's as if you took that same character where things ended in the first film and then picked it up eight years later—he's just in a much darker, existential place."
Look, nothing will make me forget about the Mark Steven Johnson-directed atrocity that came out in 2007. I guess I'll keep my mind open, though. I would like to see a successful movie about this character; I'm just not sure it's entirely possible.
Spilled Blood: Hot as she is, Eva Mendes just can't act, even opposite a dude with a flaming skull.

Unfortunately it definitely won't be. :)
