Strike Back below!

For all us who sat by as Robert Rodriguez’s feature length adaptation of his grimy faux-trailer for MACHETE languished in inactivity for years, we had doubts it would even get made. Then, with the outlandish, almost SOUTHLAND TALES type-ridiculous casting news for the film (including Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson and others), we really had our doubts.

Well, nothing can be more assuring than a fresh American Film Market (AMF) poster for the flick, one depicting the still lovely, newly MILF-ified Jessica Alba as a dangerous sexpot named Sartana.

Co-directing with first timer Ethan Maniquis (who edited Rodriguez’s PLANET TERROR), R.R. pays homage to the unadulterated grindhouse sleaze that he saw as a kid, turning his own story on:

The highly skilled Federale Machete who is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up. He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren't you!

MACHETE cuts heads on April 16, 2010.

Spilled Blood: Robert Rodriguez wrote the script to MACHETE back in 1993 after he wrote Desperado (1995).

Spilled Blood part 2: And Alba is looking DAMN fine on that cover!
RR admits to harvesting scenes from his original script for Machete to be used in other movies. BTW, wasn't Cheech going to be Machete's brother. Watch the trailer again...U can loop the topless scene for a bit, no big...but notice he "...Bro, I mean Padre" in the trailer.
