So a few days ago we caught you up on some sweet deets regarding Guillermo del Toro’s daunting forthcoming task, THE HOBBIT. We learned the dude was set to show much more of Gandalf’s exploits, something largely omitted from the original text. We also learned how technology is now, much like James Cameron’s AVATAR, advanced enough to shape each distinct character with their own unique look.

Well get ready for another tasty little nugget, this one baked Hitchcock style. According to TheOneRing.Net, del Toro will indeed make a cameo in his own upcoming prequel, and he’ll pop up in the form of a small monster.

In the master’s own words, “I had a hand on the design of the creature and I will personally sculpt the appliances that will be applied on my face and hands. I used to sculpt the creatures for NECROPIA (my FX company) and I miss it a bit. I will have a line or two and die quickly.”

Man, gotta love this guy’s zeal! It’s gotta be a lot of fun to go to work for a guy who so clearly loves his craft and never really tires of it. I’m just sayin’, Guillermo, I can shoot you an acting reel if you’ve got a spot open. Just sayin’!

THE HOBBIT is holding to a December 2011 release slate.
