Brood remake alive
It's been awhile since we've heard squat about the pending remake of David Cronenberg's THE BROOD (check out our first update on that story from 2 years ago HERE), but today there's a bit of light shed on the project. And a bummer of a realization: the remake is still happening.
STYD chatted with screenwriter Cory Goodman recently, and he confirms the project is still alive and running. He's currently penning the script, which will contemporize and modernize the original story about a man who tries to uncover an unconventional psychologist's therapy techniques on his institutionalized wife, while a series of brutal attacks committed by a brood of mutant children coincides with the husband's investigation.
While no director is attached just yet, a few names are circling around the project, each one excited as hell to jump at the opportunity and run with it.
Remaking a Cronenberg movie seems like a no-win situation for everyone involved, mostly because it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to top (or even match) the mastery filmmaking skills of Cronenberg, which means the delivery of a painfully sub-par movie for which us (the audience) will have to sit through.

Spilled Blood: David Cronenberg wrote THE BROOD following a particularly nasty divorce and child-custody battle against his ex-wife.
