Strike Back below!

Well here's a twisted little gem that has seemed to have avoided our radar: Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto's MACABRE.

Ever hear of this one? Well don't worry chances are not most of you have. Let me hit you all with the skinny: Two newly weds Adjie and Astrid, along with 3 of their best friends decided to have an interstate road trip as a last attempt to reconcile Adjie with his estranged little sister Ladya. Their trip is however abruptly interrupted when they run into Maya, a strange girl out of nowhere, who wanders aimlessly into their path. "I've been robbed" is all she has to say. The friends unanimously decided to give her a ride to her isolated house by the end of the woods. Maya introduces Adjie and friends to her blue-blooded mother Dara, a woman of ageless enigma and few spoken words. Dara insists that their kindness should be repaid with a dinner feast. This is where the night turns into a crimson-hell for the 6 friends, who find themselves trapped and hunted down by Dara and her cult-like family of her three deadly protégés, born and raised to systematically eliminate unsuspecting passers-by for one nefarious reason. Slaughtered one by one, everybody will bleed, the darkest of nights never looked so red.

Well that sounds like some dinner party huh? I'm sold! I just recently stumbled upon MACABRE's official blog and have decided to share that shite with all of you! If you head right over HERE you'll find all sorts of MACABRE goodies including posters and loads of stills like the couple above and below. You can even check out the flick's Facebook page!

MACABRE stars Shareefa Daanish (below), Julie Estelle, Dendy Subangil, Sigi Wimala, Ario Bayu, Daniel Mananta, Mike Lucock, Rully Lubis, Imelda Therine, and Arifin Putra. It's making the rounds right now internationally with it's next stop happening in Indonesia on January 22nd. No word on a US release but we'll keep our eyes open for any updates.

This movie simply need to be seen on the biggest screen, while wearing a very wide dib. It's one of goriest film EVER (rivalling Lamberto Bava's DEMONS and Raimi's EVIL DEAD films combined). I saw it at iNAFFF09 in Jakarta and the whole crowd went insane. I saw it at iNAFFF09 in Jakarta and the whole crowd went insane. Never had I experinced a mass retching/groaning followed by thunderous applause when the villains get (well deserved)their comeuppance. In fact, the movie deserved the title as a 'crowd pleaser gorefest'.
