Time to give a little love to one of those indie projects that could. The flick in question is called ROMANCE ROAD KILLERS, and has one of the coolest sites for an indie in pre-production that I've seen. It grabs your attention, is easy to navigate, and gives you the info you want without a lot of useless bells and whistles.

The story is based on the infamous Starkweather case which among others inspired BADLANDS. In particular this movie follows Jacob, 19, and Isabelle, 14, on a killing spree across the roads of California. Although the basis for the film is inspired by the Starkweather Murders, the motives of the killings are very different. Co-writers/directors Emily Wryn and Shane Ryan have based the couple's background on events involving their own lives, including foster care, child protection agencies, abuse/molestation in the family and in the foster homes, and whether or not the system designed to protect children actually works.

Ouch. Currently the flick is in pre-production, but there are a ton of photos from test shoots at the Official Site, and promises that video footage and teasers will soon follow.

Plus, how can you not love a movie that uses a raffle to raise funds?
