Strike Back below!

The FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise, much like the serial slasher Jason Voorhees the films revolve around, will never die. I don't care how many times they say he's 'dead', he'll always be back for more. If only because people like their hockey masks sprayed with blood, and Jason is the guy who does it the best.

A while back they released a string of books based on the notorious murders at Camp Crystal Lake for young readers to enjoy- new tales of horror, taking place either in-between the movies, or directly after them. Good shit if you're a fan of the films, and something of note to hold you over until the next one hits (which, at this point, looks like it'll be a flippin' remake).

Which is likely why indie-filmmaker Cory Stevens decided he'd adapt one of these novels (written by Eric Morse) for the big screen - he had a love for the series, and wanted to show yet another tale of terror to seep out of Camp Crystal Lake. Taking place directly after JASON GOES TO HELL, FRIDAY THE 13TH: MOTHER'S DAY is about A hunter [who] digs up Jason's hockey mask and puts it on. He [becomes] possessed by the evil of Jason and terrorizes a group of campers who have decided to camp at the site where Camp Crystal Lake once existed. Sound like fun? You bet your ass it does!

Usually a knock-off student film of a beloved franchise results in blasphemy, something so awful that it's a disgrace it was ever made in the first place. But not here. Check out the trailer below and prepare to be impressed. Obviously made with love, MOTHER'S DAY is looking like one F13 spin-off worth checking out- with the same feel and vibe of the original. It even overshadows the fact that this 'Jason' has long hair!

It's taken 3 years to bring this adaptation to the small screen, and it'd be a shame for any fan of the series not to check it out. They even have an OFFICIAL WEBSITE, filled with cilps, images and more trailers from the film! So what the heck are you waiting for? Make like the camp counselor you know you are at heart, and check this crazy mofo out- you won't be disappointed! And watch for FRIDAY THE 13TH: MOTHER'S DAY to make it's online premiere Friday, April 13th, 2007.

Thanks to William Pattison (aka Eric Morse) for the heads up!
