Scream 4 a go?
UPDATE: So Bloody Disgusting is saying this is BS. Don't know if they're spot on about that, but thought I'd put it out there that this may not be in the works after all... Either way, I STILL wouldn't rule out another SCREAM flick in the near future...
It’s been eight years since SCREAM 3, and I’m fairly sure we had all moved WAY on - especially after hearing from series creator Kevin Williamson that it was always intended to end the franchise... But that shan’t stop the Weinstein Comp. - who’ve been busy of late reimagining HALLOWEEN and HELLRAISER - from making SCREAM 4!
In a statement on their blog, the Weinstein Company had this to say:
"The Scream franchise has become a cult classic. Together, all three movies have grossed over $300 million at the box office, just in the United States alone.”
I think someone needs to tell the Weinstein boys that cult classics don’t usually make over 300 mil at the box office. But I’ll forgive them that little slip - I can’t help but admire their brashly honest “it’ll probably make us money and that’s why we’re doing it” reasoning.
They continue: "The fans have been asking for a 4th Scream movie for years and we're finally giving it to them. As far as details go, we're only in the planning stages and we may not get around to it [Scream 4] for quite some time, but rest assured, it will happen."
The one positive to come out of this - maybe - is that SCREAM 3 scribe Ehren Kruger most likely won’t be on board: he’s just been assigned the chore of writing TRANSFORMERS 2. (Ugh...)
I guess we should just be grateful they’re aren’t remaking the first SCREAM - hell it’s been 11 long years since it was released.
Will Sidney be back?

As for a sequel, bring back Williamson to write and Craven to direct. I will be there to watch it.
