rising star Daniella Evangelista has done her fair share of genre
films. What I particularly dig about her is that she's not only
gorgeous, but also has talent to boot...yes, she is a rare gem.
Daniella took a few moments to chit chat with
Arrow and this is what she had to say.
your favorite horror movie?
As a kid growing up, horrors were always my favorite movies. The
older classics, anything to do with clowns, nightmares or
possessed kids. Love Alfred Hitchcock and Stephen King. But "The Exorcist"
really disturbed me.
How did you fall into acting? Was it by fluke or did you follow a
long time dream?
I got into the biz when I was four, along with modeling and dance
because I was definitely not shy. As I grew up, I slowly evolved
in the industry doing what I love.
You’ve appeared in "Mangler 2",
"Wishmaster 3", "Ripper:
From Hell", "Return To Cabin By The Lake" and
Behavior". That’s a lot of genre films! What would you say is
between acting in a horror effort opposed to say a
more “dramatic” type of film?
Oh yes! Horrors are so much fun to shoot. Besides the fact that
I’m delirious from all the night shoots and freezing cold
because I'm usually dressed in little clothing in some creepy
location. Hey, we're making a scary movie! I make of myself for being
such a "Girly damsel in distress". And with the ones I've
done, the crew and actors have been great, so when we're thrown in a
random remote location to shoot, it's like summer camp. Of course, the
special effects are exciting.... and scary when they're on me!! Who
wants to know what they look like decomposing. YUCK!!
Of all the parts you have played, which was the most challenging and
satisfying for you as an actress?
Every character I've chosen to do so far has had their challenging
moments. From kissing a guy you hardly know with bad breath to
having to cry all day over and over again. "Cabin by The Lake" was
challenging because my big death scene took like a week to shoot and
I was constantly wet and freezing. One day I was actually submerged into a real cold lake.
I heard that you just finished shooting "Try Seventeen" with Elijah
Wood. Can you tell us a bit about your part and the project?
easy to answer, since I signed a disclosure I can't tell ya
much. But I can tease you a bit and say how cool it's gonna
be. It was so much fun to work with Elijah. He is super nice and
such a talented actor (DUH!), it was such a pleasure.
As a working actress, what are your feelings in regards to the
audition process? Do you enjoy it? Do you still get nervous? Do you
still take rejection to heart? Or have you gone beyond those?
Auditioning is something some actors make a career at. But you can
never be pro. Who knows what they want in there!! I hardly get
nervous and I never take rejection personally. Sometimes it's weird
to work constantly for a few months and not have time for auditions,
and then that day comes to have to
go look for work again. Ah, I guess it depends on how you look at
it; I like them to be fun, challenging, and a little
Apart from acting, what other art forms do you appreciate if any?
I love the arts in all forms. I've always loved to dance, go see
some theater, draw, paint, go to museums, music in many forms
including opera, books and definitely the art of cooking and
What does Daniella do when she’s not acting? Basically, what do
you do on
your down time?
I lavish in my down time just doing the things I like to do.
Reading, relaxing, movie watching, and going for long walks. I love
the outdoors, and when I'm inside, it's usually in the kitchen
cooking dinner for my friends.
next on your plate? Any other immediate projects coming soon that you’re
at liberty to mention?
D: Well, I'm
going back to the fourth season of Edgemont; we don't start until
October though. I have a few projects in the works and some
traveling in mind until then.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What’s your ultimate goal?
I'm looking forward to being more mature and developed as an
actor and I want to be taking on many challenging roles in
features, until I'm satisfied and feel confident enough to start
developing my own ideas.
