"Hell Night" for Linda Blair?

May 3, 2001

Source: Really Scary

Really Scary news reports that rather than create a sequel to the movie "Hell Night", producer Bruce Cohn Curtis was taken by the idea of remaking his 1981 film. "I think for young people who haven’t seen [the original], the remake will be a fun movie", says Curtis. For the older ones, they’ll either go and see it or eventually rent it and they can have the two pictures side by side. It’ll be fun to compare. The big bonus will be Blair’s return to the genre. Apparently, she has be inundated with offers since The Exorcist re-issue, but has turned all of them down with the exception of "Hell Night". Rue Morgue says this might have something to do with the fact that she was a partner in the original production. Excellent news!!

"American Psycho II is a darkly satirical script in the spirit of the original American Psycho," says president of Lions Gate Productions, Michael Paseornek. "The title provides a lot of built-in marketing. We have an opportunity to launch young actors and we are looking to build a good ensemble cast around (Mila Kunis)." Paseornek says that they hope to give the film a theatrical release, but there is no guarantee of it until the completed film is screened. Paseornek did say that they envision a future number of sequels to the first film. Why why why....

Willis is a "True Believer"

May 2, 2001

Source: Empire Online

Picture Bruce Willis as senator Will Sullivan, a man with aspirations towards the Oval Office, and a wife with aspirations towards starting a family. Sullivan curiously manages to fall foul of a crazed death row convict who wants to be the messiah. The would-be savior gathers a following of equally unbalanced disciples and hatches a plot to kidnap and artificially inseminate the senator’s wife so that a divine heir will be left to inherit the "faux-messiah’s" throne. This is what Empire Online reports as an upcoming project for Bruce Willis should he join up with "Die Hard 2" writer Doug Richardson for "True Believers". The film would be based on Richardson's novel "True Believers"

Halloween Rumors Abound

May 1, 2001

Source: Dark Horizons

Dark Horizons reports that Trancas International Films is trying to get the next Halloween installment shot before the SAG strike. However, it sounds like there's a bit of a standoff in the company. Moustapha Akkad is in a bit of a tussel with Paul Freeman. Akkad wants to hold off on the film until next year and use a different script (having taken fans' reaction to the story to heart). However, Freeman wants to shoot with what they have and get it out this October. Freeman also rushed the shoot of "Halloween: H20" and altered much of "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers". Right now, however, it appears Akkad has the favor of Miramax. He has pitched a separate story which would tie the entire series (minus "Halloween III: Season of the Witch") into the same world of thought. I'd love to see them try and tie it all together...
