 This
was my first day on the "Samhain" set. After snooping around and
talking with a few people, I managed to snag Richard Grieco (yes,
Booker in the flesh) for a couple of questions before he went to
shoot his first scene of the day. The man invited me into his trailer,
we had a couple of smokes and this is how it turned out.
A: You have a large body of work but I
don’t remember you ever doing a horror movie. Is this your first
one?
R:
Yes, it is. I always wanted to do one and this seemed like the
type that I’d want to do. You know the ones that have been
sequalized like Halloween?
A: Yeah...
R: I
would never do that.
A: You wouldn’t do a Halloween sequel?
R: No, no…
A: Even for a lot of money?
R: No, cause it's
just been done so many times. Now unless it was something totally
different...like this one, it's totally different...then I’d do it.
A: Are you yourself a big horror fan?
R: I’ve got over
3000 DVDs, just horror movies. They go from really bad to…well…I
really like B-horror movies…

A: Name me some of your favs…
R: The Item, Re-Animator, Evil Dead, Bobby Has An Axe to Grind...to name a few.
A: I actually watched "Night At The Roxbury"
recently and thought you were hilarious in it? Are you going to do
more comedies?
R: I’ve got one
coming out called "Fish Don’t Blink".
A: Who’s in that? Anybody I would know?
R: Lea Thompson…
A: She’s kool…
R: Actually, I
gained thirty pounds for my role in
"Night At The Roxbury"…
A: 30 pounds! That's a lot of weight dude!
R: I was playing
Richard Grieco 7 years down the road after Booker and Jump Street
and I figured that I’d gain 30 pounds cause I was just enjoying
the partying. I wanted to look
bloated for the film.
A: Now I have to ask this question, when I
hear the name Richard Grieco, I think "party man". Is the animal
still kicking?
R:
I definitely still have good times.
A: Are you shacked up yet?
R: Well…you have
in country, you have out country, you have zip codes, you know what
I mean…
A: You bet I do. Well,
I know you gotta bail, so thanks for your time Richard.
R: No problem, take
it easy.

The
impression that I had while talking to Richard is that his kool
attitude isn't an act, he's actually THAT kool. Sure, the
interview wasn't too long (one smoke each and that was that) but I
still had fun talking to the dude. Thanks again Richard!
