Arterton is Tamara

And here I thought all graphic novels involved copious amounts of bloodshed and nudity. Well not so with TAMARA DREWE, the Posy Simmonds novel that’s being turned into a feature film. Stephen Frears has just signed on to direct while Gemma Arterton has the title role.

The story is of a girl who after a long time away, returns to her country hometown looking all hot, much to the surprise of everyone who knew her as an ugly duckling growing up. Arterton certainly has the hotness, but does she have the time? Since starring in QUANTUM OF SOLACE she’s currently juggling CLASH OF THE TITANS, PRINCE OF PERSIA and a WUTHERING HEIGHTS remake.

Director Frears says he’s “loved Posy Simmonds’ work for a long time,” which is why he ultimately decided on the project while circling several others. Other than Arterton, Dominic Cooper, Roger Allam, Luke Evans, Bill Camp and Tamsin Greig will all be making appearances as well. Filming begins Sept. in the UK.
