Baz Luhrmann is out to pick a Daisy for The Great Gatsby

Baz Luhrmann looks to be pretty set on his male leads for his vision of THE GREAT GATSBY, but is still trying to find his Daisy.

Recently Luhrmann did a workshop with his partner on the screenplay Craig Pearce with Leonardo DiCaprio reading for Jay Gatsby, Tobey Maguire reading for Nick Carraway, and THE TOWN’s Rebecca Hall reading for the role of Daisy Buchanan.

Deadline says that even though Hall is still in the running, Luhrmann wants to read with other actresses to see which one has the best chemistry with DiCaprio. Over the next two weeks, Luhrmann will read with seven other actresses for the part. Who does the director have in mind? These are the ladies on his list: Keira Knightley, Amanda Seyfried, Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish, Michelle Williams and Scarlett Johansson.

It’s also being rumored that he’s already sweet on one of the ladies for the part–Portman. Every movie that comes up seems to want Portman to take on the role of the leading lady. But is she right for Daisy?
