Before I present to you the absolutely fantastic clips of Lily Tomlin freaking out on the set of I HEART HUCKABEES, let me give you a little backstory. Director David O. Russell is known for his unorthodox directing style, which can be a little, um, confrontational (see, fist fight with George Clooney on the set of THREE KINGS). The set of HUCKABEES was no less tense. I'd like to link you to the original New York Times article detailing all this but it's only available to Times Select members, which means you have to pay a monthly fee to read it. Basically, Russell was trying to coax performances out of his actors by taking them out of their comfort zone. For Lily Tomlin this meant completely pissing her off. Thankfully the cameras were rolling. This is why the internet is the best thing since, well, anything. Buy all the DVDs you want friends, you're never going to get deleted scenes quite like this. Enjoy.

The thing that makes the first clip even more insane is that when it's done, it links to a CBS Sunday Morning interview with Tomlin and Hoffman doing press for the movie, and Tomlin mentions O. Russell seemingly without any bitterness, and talks about how much fun it was to work on it and compliments the movie and stuff. I knew O. Russell did extreme things on set but that was ridiculous and unfortunate that he chooses to work that way. What's even more disturbing is that it seems kind of routine for Hoffman and Schwartzman, who stick around for a while during the blow up. And the poor woman crouching in the corner covering herself after being hit with files...terible.

I dunno, she was kind of being a bitch and talking down to the director. It sounded like she was complaining cause she had to pick a folder up off the desk.

well both of the videos were removed from YouTube by the person who posted them. So whoever saw them before they dissapeared, conisder yourself lucky cause you probably wont see them for a long time if not at all.

That was Naomi Watts that Tomlin was yelling at in the backseat..Mark Wahlberg was also there, but he just kept his mouth shut ^_^

Boy if I thought Lily Tomlin was a tad too angry, that was nothing compared with David O.'s own hissyfit. Glad the title was changed from "F you Dustin Hoffman," which was very misleading.

Damn I like this movie too. Glad this didn't come across in the final film. It's a wonder it turned out as well as it did. Pretty funny scenes here.
