In my opinion, cartoons aren’t made like they used to be. My favourite era for cartoons is the 80s and 90s, but I’m probably biased since that’s when I grew up. Back then, they could make a TV series out of just about anything (and did). One such show that took off in the early 80s was an adaptation of the arcade video game PAC-MAN. It only lasted for two seasons, but it remains a classic to many people.

The synopsis for the TV series was this: ”Pac-Man! The game that gobbled up a nation's quarters while its hero gobbled up those annoying Ghost Monsters spawned sequels, spin-offs, toys, games and more. Taking note of Pac-Man's avid fan base, famed carton studio Hanna-Barbera hit upon the idea of adapting the game for Saturday morning animation - becoming the first video game to make the jump to TV. Kids were immediately enraptured and a score of other arcade favorites soon followed Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Baby Pac-Man from the gaming console to the cathode ray tube.

In this 2-Disc, 13-Episode collection, Pac-Man does battle with Inky, Blinky, Pinky, Clyde and Sue, the Ghost Monster minions of the dreaded Mezmaron, who lusts after Pac-land's precious power spheres. Aided by his plucky and charming wife and son, Pac-Man saves the Pac-President, confronts the vampiric Pacula, discovers the Abominable Pac-Man and more. Pac-Venture awaits - no quarters required!“

PAC-MAN was again, a TV series that aired in the early 80s… specifically, it aired from 1982-1984 and was part of the Hanna-Barbera family. And now, for those wanting to relive those glory days of cartoons, you can! Warner has announced that they will be releasing PAC-MAN SEASON 1 on DVD at the end of the month on January 31! There are no special features announced with the press release, so I'm assuming it's just the TV series and that's it. The release date is coming up soon though, so we'll know for sure shortly.

I completely agree with your first sentence, Stephanie.

And why not release on bluray?

Yeah, they don't make cartoons like they used to anymore. I too agree that 80s and 90s have the best cartoons. You don't see any moral lessons and public service announcement about safety or fire prevention before the show is over in today's cartoons anymore. For me, M.A.S.K. and Jonny Quest (both the original and The Read Adventures) were the best.
