blu rays dvd News | Prepare to set sail with The Adventures of Tintin on DVD and Blu-ray

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: SECRET OF THE UNICORN came to theaters as one of my most anticipated movies of 2011. And personally, I think it should've been anticipated by just about everyone since this film has so many reasons to be on a variety of people’s must-see lists. The first reason being because of TINTIN’s director… Steven Spielberg. Then there’s the screenplay writers: Steven Moffatt (of Doctor Who fame), Edgar Wright (famous for being the awesome Edgar Wright), Joe Cornish (who most recently became beloved for his surprise hit, Attack the Block) and of course, the writer of the source material (aka the TINTIN comics), Hergé.

But wait, there’s more! While the film is animated, it still packs in a punch with the A-listers attached to the project including Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell, Nick Frost (since Simon and him seem to go hand-in-hand as real-life besties), Toby Jones, Mackenzie Crook, Cary Elwes and more.

If that’s not enough to make you want to see the film, here’s the synopsis: ”The film depicts Tintin's first encounter with Captain Haddock and the discovery of a clue to the treasure of his ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. The pair seek protection from a former thief and set out to find the lost treasure.” And if that’s still not enough, make sure to check out the trailer below, but FYI: if I knew nothing else about this film other than who wrote the screenplay, I’d be sold.

For those of you living in the UK, the film has now been announced for home video and it'll be arriving for DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on March 19. Now, for those of us here in North America, an unofficial release date for the film has sprung up. It looks TINTIN will be arriving on DVD, Blu-ray and again Blu-ray 3D almost a week earlier on March 13.
