So the concept wonít blow you away. You know whatís going to happen and at times youíre going to think youíve seen it before. But itís still ďcuteĒ and tugs at the heart strings just enough to keep you engaged. I also found myself laughing any time Jen forgot how old she was. Cliche, I know, but it worked.
I had a hard time buying into her acceptance of her new found life and the idea that a 13 year-old could handle the pressures of an ad agency. Then I had to remind myself that this is a Hollywood romantic comedy and not a documentary. There are some moments that will make you roll your eyes, but they're seldom and don't take away too much from the fun.
The real surprise here is Aliasís Jennifer Garner. We all know Mark Ruffalo is great (at least you know that if you saw YOU CAN COUNT ON ME), but I didnít know what to expect from Jen. She pulled off the part with ease and probably set herself up for good roles post Alias.
Alternate beginning and ending (11:33): You must be kidding me. This canít be happening. This is one of the ďadditionsĒ that theyíre selling. But would you believe that they used different actors and actresses to play the leads? Seriously. I couldnít make this up. Absolutely horrible.
Fashion flashbacks into the 80ís (6:50): A bunch of teen ďmodelsĒ talk about 80ís fashion. Most werenít alive then, but somehow they are able to talk about it. This is the only other added feature and itís obviously targeted towards kids that donít know any better.
Deleted scenes (21:03): These are all your run of the mill deleted scenes. A few were mildly funny, but all deserved their place on the cutting room floor.
Making of a teen dream (18:51): Key players get together to talk about the making of the film. More than fluff, but less than thrilling.
I was a teenage geek (8:01): The cast talks about how geeky they were in school. For some reason, I have no problem believing Jennifer Garner was a geek. I also found it amazing how much a young Jen looked like the young actress in the film. Also, does anyone else think a 13 year-old Jennifer Garner looks striking similar to a full grown Hilary Swank?
Bloopers (3:17): Typical, ďI canít stop laughing and I donít know whyĒ bloopers.
There are also a hand full of Trailers, Games for the kids, and a couple of Music videos
