WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
The gang at 30 ROCK are up to their usual mischief, including head writer Liz Lemonís (Tina Fey) pursuit of love while head honcho Jack (Alec Baldwin) himself is battled over by two of my biggest crushes, Julianne Moore, and Elizabeth Banks. Itís good to be a Baldwin.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
30 ROCK for better or worse is 30 ROCK. You either dig it, or you donít. Honestly, if youíve never experienced the show before, Season 4 is not a good place to start, so if thatís the case you should stop reading this right now and check out a few episodes from the first season. In fact, Iíd wager that five minutes into the pilot, youíll be able to tell is 30 ROCK is for you or not.

Personally, I really enjoy 30 ROCK (although when it comes down to it, Iím more of an OFFICE or WEEDS guy). The cast is pitch perfect, with Baldwinís brilliant and Emmy-winning work at Jack being enough to guarantee that I pick up the DVDs of each season as they come out. Speaking of Emmyís, 30 ROCKís been showered in the over the years, possibly due to the fact that 30 ROCK is a very inside-NY showbiz type thing.

So, if youíre still reading this, obviously youíre a 30 ROCK fan. As far as Season 4 goes, itís more of the same, meaning that the show is about as consistently funny as itís ever been, even if it does lean a bit heavily on guest stars at times (S4 is chockfull of them, from Banks and Moore, to Michael Sheen as Lizís love interest towards the end of the season, and even Matt Damon and Al Gore!).

My only other issues with 30 ROCK are the same problems I've had since day 1, being that the show-within-the-show sucks, and that some of Jane Kratowski's schtick gets old. I also find Tracy Morgan really hit or miss, (count COP-OUT as a big miss), but he's pretty consistent this season.
THE EXTRAS
Like previous seasons, 30 ROCK: S4 is pretty loaded with extras. First up, Commentary tracks on almost every episode, plus extended versions of two episodes.

There's also loads of deleted scenes , a Food Network Ace of Cakes episode, the full Tennis Night in America promo, and some behind the scenes featurettes.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Really, even if youíre just a casual 30 ROCK fan like me, this DVD set is a no-brainer. Sure, itís no ARRESTED: DEVELOPMENT, or even close to that level, itís still one of the most consistently funny, and smart shows on TV, and well worth checking out week to week.
