WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
An Alpha Wolf and an Omega Wolf get transported to a nature reserve far from home and have to get back to stop an impending war between two neighboring wolf packs.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
If your brain is able to function above the level of that of the average 4 year old, chances are you'll hate ALPHA AND OMEGA. I found it to be a completely insufferable experience to trog through. The animation is terrible, the vocal work lazy and the story and script are just plain dumb. The movie's idea of a joke is the wolves falling. Over and over and over...and over again.

Basically, the wolf world of this movie is split into two factions, Alphas who do the hunting and Omegas who joke around and do all the other stuff. These two wolf types are bound by tradition to not mate with each other, which causes all kinds of problems in this movie. So the Alpha (Hayden Panettiere) won't give the Omega (Justin Long) the time of day until they're both trapped by some preservationists who send them to a park in Idaho. This is bad because the wolves belonged to two packs that were about to battle of territory, so they have to get back to stop it. You can guess what happens from here. The Alpha and the Omega grow found of one another during the road trip and you can guess the message of acceptance the rest of the movie jams down our throat.

The animation looks like something you'd see in a middling video game cut-scene. That might even be generous as it's closer to one of those animated segments you'd see before they announce the starting lineup at an NBA game.

Making the proceedings even sadder, this is Dennis Hopper's last movie. He definitely didn't go out with a bang and his vocal performance here is really vanilla. The rest of the principles (Justin Long, Hayden Panettiere, Christina Ricci and Danny Glover) give equally uninspired performances, with some truly awful line reads from Panettiere specifically.

I was wondering why you reviewed this, but the thrashing was totally worth it.
