IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
I had a part-time job in college and one of the guys that worked with me called himself Willis. It wasnt his name, but he wore that on his nametag because he didnt want anyone to know what his real name was. Willis was a funny guy and we had many nights bullshitting all night at the local Perkins. I blabber all this to say that Kevin Smith is a famous Willis and watching his Evening With DVDs makes you feel like youre talking to a friend with which you never run out of things to talk about.

This is where Kevin Smith is at his best. Hes great when hes just bouncing off the audience talking about and saying whatever he wants. He really is a big geek living the dream and its nice to see and hear him talk about his life in the big time. He has no problem admitting he likes the money and doesnt shy away from taking shots at himself or others.

If I have one problem with the Evening With series its that the good questions seem to have already been asked. With the second series, you dont get a whole lot of piercing questions that give Kevin a chance to talk about something more interesting than Dora the Explorer. But thats a credit to Kevins charm and likeability. Not everyone can talk for twenty minutes about a lame kids show and actually hold your attention.

Kevin Smith is a famous director that has huge Hollywood stars on speed dial. However, at no point in time during these two concerts do you get the feeling that he feels superior to anyone. Hes just a geek that had a cool idea and an opportunity and made the most of it. This DVD is a must for Kevin Smith fans, or anyone whos regular job prevents them from staying up all night and talking with their friends at the local Perkins.
THE EXTRAS
Toronto Limo Ride Featurette (11:15): Kevin rides around and asks random Canadians what constitutes Canadian cuisine. Its hilarious, but not in the overly insulting way that you see a lot of comics do it. He really just carries on conversations with these people and occasionally inserts his social commentary.

London Man on the Street Featurette (6:33): Jason Mewes travels around London and tries out his up in them guts pick up line. The line is horrible, but the reactions on the lovely British women is priceless.

There are also some Previews.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Despite the occasional lame question, Kevin made me laugh my ass off. Hes a cool, genuine dude that I enjoy listening to. If youre a movie or comic book geek, youll enjoy this DVD. A high recommend for Schmoes everywhere.
