WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
A former ping-pong champion is called out of obscurity to infiltrate a crime bossís ping-pong tournament. To prepare himself, he trains with a ping-pong master and enlists the help of the masterís beautiful niece.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
I didnít think there was any way I would even remotely enjoy this film. However, if I laugh out loud more than three times during a comedy, I usually say the film has done its job. In this case, I laughed out loud more than three times and I guess thatís really all you can ask for in a movie about underground ping-pong.

However, make no mistake about it; this is a bad film. It does have some funny moments, but it lacks any real characters or comedy that you can relate to. There are some situations that provoke laughs and some one-shot gags, but thatís about it. Again, thatís usually enough in a film like this.

I think they might have even been able to include more humor had they pushed it all the way and made it an ďRĒ rated film. You could tell they held back in several scenes and some ďspiceĒ here and there couldíve helped it. The storyline was as simple as you can get, but once again, itís not supposed to be taken seriously.

The cast was also pretty good with everyone playing their part well. Maggie Q is unbelievably beautiful and she spends most of the film half-dressed. George Lopez and Dan Fogler do decent jobs too. The surprise in the movie is Christopher Walken. He basically plays his normal character, but the fact he even did the movie is the surprise. Overall, everyone did a decent job with what they had.
THE EXTRAS
Deleted Scenes (6:40): All of these deserved to be cut because they wouldíve slowed down the film. They added more to the story, but nothing that was needed.

Alternate Ending (1:52): With movies like this, it doesnít really matter how you end it. I wouldnít say this ending was any better or worse than the one in the movie, it was just different.

Balls Out: Making of Balls of Fury (13:58): There were way too many movie scenes, but the cast and crew did make some decent jokes that proved to be worthwhile. At less than fifteen minutes, itís worth the time if you were a moderate fan of the movie.

Under the Balls (5:18): This is a joke piece about a hot Russian girl that handled all the ping-pong balls on the set. The joke gets old pretty quickly, but the girl is pretty hot. This is another reason for an unrated DVD.

FINAL DIAGNOSIS
I canít believe Iím saying this, but if youíre in the mood for a mindless comedy, this could actually make you laugh a few times. It wasnít nearly as bad as it looks. If youíre running out of comedies to check out, this one might be a decent fill-in.
