WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Four different 'The Simpsons' episodes compiled for the purpose of raking in your cold, hard earned cash.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
When this DVD first showed up on my doorstep, I admit that I was pretty excited by the cover. The cover featuring The Simpsonsí as different STAR WARS characters definitely had my interest piqued, as I would have loved to have seen The Simpsons take the piss out of the movie. No dice on that one, good buddy! What the DVD actually consists of (just so you donít get your hopes up like mine were) is four episodes of The Simpsonsí. The last episode on the disc, Mayored To The Mob, is the only one having anything to do with STAR WARS. In that episode, Mark Hamill visits Springfield via Sci-Fi convention and has his life saved from a gang of nerds by who else, Homer J. f*cking Simpson. This episode also has the unique trait of being one of the single most grotesque and vile things Iíve ever seen on television when itís learned that the school milk being provided by the nipples of rats (care of Fat Tony of course). Disgusting, but funny!
The other three episodes: Dog of Death finds Santaís Little Helper in dire need of surgery, causing the Simpsonsí to make some financial cut backs. Marge Be Not Proud is the one where Bart gets caught stealing a video game and features the voice of none other than Joe Cabot himself, Laurence Tierney. In The Secret War of Lisa, Bart gets shipped to military school. While visiting, Lisa finds that she feels the school is better than Springfield Elementary ever could be and enrolls herself as the only girl allowed into the academy.
Art and Animation: A feature seen on other Simpsonís Season sets, storyboards and early drawings are showcased for the Mayored To The Mob episode. You can view the storyboards with audio alone, or a sweet picture-in-picture feature shows the completed episode with the storyboards.
F*ck me, man. The least Fox could have done was stock this bad boy with choice extras and maybe an audio commentary or two. Shit, even an ďIn-CharacterĒ audio commentary would suffice. But no, itís so painfully obvious that Fox wants nothing more than to cash in on Episode III this month. The only way to send a message to Fox that we donít appreciate this kind of blatant display of greed is by NOT BUYING THIS!!! That is, unless youíre a huge fan of these four episodes and these four episodes alone.
