I truly feel that Mike Judge has the uncanny ability to tap into daily mundane life and make it funny. While BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD marked his first foray into the social marketplace, it just doesn’t do it for me as much as say OFFICE SPACE. It’s clear with the advent of a Volume 2 that they only had a handful of GOOD episodes, so they had to spread those over several volumes. Is it worth buying? Probably not. You may feel gypped out of hard earned cash for a few laughs and a lot of candid stupidness.
Music Videos: One of the best parts of the show was music video commentary by the dynamic duo. Think MST3K but set to a Korn video. There’s 11 videos including bands such as Beastie Boys, Wilco, Pantera, and Grim Reaper. They are all pure GENIUS. Funny enough, a lot of the B & B commentary is natural reactions to horrible videos. They should make a Beavis and Butt-Head music video DVD!
Taint of Greatness: The Journey of Beavis and Butt-Head, Part 1: This is a fascinating look at the beginnings of the show. You’ll hear a lot from series creator Mike Judge on everything from character inspirations to trouble with the FCC. This EPK was a lot of fun to watch- more fun than the show!
MTV VMAs: There are three VMA spots including one with David Letterman. These are pretty funny, especially with Mr. Letterman acting goofy.
Thanksgiving Special with Kurt Loder: This special aired the day before the last episode of the show. By now, I think they totally ran out of material and the two just aren’t funny at all. The only chuckle comes when Kurt Loder reveals he’s never scored, and Beavis shouts, “live on MTV news, Kurt Loder a virgin!”
Promos: Three promos that include Bill Clinton and Waco are here. The thing of it is, they only last a few seconds, which is not enough time to really do anything.
Montages: Two separate montages are thrown in. These seem to be like early film student experiments. Not that great.
There is also a large collection of previews for other TV boxed sets like JACKASS and AEON FLUX.
Finally, there are a couple links to an animation show site and a cell phone video site.
