I liked where they took the story, but I do think they could have done better with the ending. They had done a good job of keeping the story world separate from the reality and everything in the reality was actually realistic. But when the ending came along, they abandoned the rule and made it over the top. I know itís a simple fantasy story, but with a few modifications, they could have made it more believable while still keeping the lighthearted tone.
Other than the ending, I wouldnít say there was anything else I would change about the film. They did pretty well with what they had to work with. Itís actually a pretty simple story that would be hard to screw up. They could have gone anywhere with it and with the success of this one, Iím sure weíll see a sequel in the near future. I canít say I loved it, but it wasnít exactly made for my age group.
In the end, you have to remember the target audience for this film is actually children. Die-hard Sandler fans arenít going to get anything out of this, so they shouldnít even bother showing up. This is a simple movie thatís truly PG and clearly not for the adults. Parents of little kids should definitely give it a rental and I think it will be a great film for the whole family to enjoy.
Outtakes (6:48): Outtakes with actual comedians are ten times funnier than with regular actors. These were actually really fun to watch. It looks like they had a good time on set and this was a fun feature.
Get to Know Bugsy (3:42): The little guinea pig (Bugsy) was a little annoying, but not nearly as much as he could have been. Iím sure the little kids will appreciate this more than anyone else. It has about 30 seconds of interviews and the rest is movie clips.
Until Gravity Do us Part (4:00): The last fantasy sequence has its own featurette. It was okay, but kind of pointless. They explain how they filmed the sequence and get a little too technical at times.
To all the Little People (5:24): The little kids host their own featurette and discuss the plot of the movie. Everyone shows up to talk about how great they are. It was actually a nice featurette, but it helped that the kids were adorable.
