Bitch Slap: Unrated
WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Three gorgeous, barely dressed ladies, congregate on a gangsterís desert hideout in order to steal millions of dollars worth of diamonds.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
BITCH-SLAP is a one-joke premise stretched to its breaking point. Ostensibly a throw back to Russ Meyer flicks like FATER PUSSYCAT, KILL, KILL, director Rick Jacobsonís made a movie that owes more than a little to his TV work on shows like XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, and SHE SPIES. While gets to throw in a bit more profanity and violence, BITCH SLAP is way too tame to work as good Grindhouse cinema. To steal from BACHELOR PARTY, ďI usually donít like my filth this cleanĒ.
As for our three ladies- I dunno. All three are drop dead gorgeous, but the cheesy (deliberate?) acting hampers the film in a big way, and the 109 minute length (on the Unrated cut) feels damn right oppressive. I have nothing against exploitation, but this didnít work for me at all. Iím sure there are folks out there that will like this, but for me- this is nowhere near this bawdy, exploitation throw-back this is advertised as.
Not much here, other than a commentary track from the director and stars, as well as a making of featurette.
BITCH SLAP just really wasnít my thing. If youíre trying to make an exploitation film, you should actually have some exploitation in it. However, this is just too tame on the skin front, but if youíre a fan of Jacobsonís shows like XENA, or CLEOPATRA 2525, you might like this.
