WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Jack Nicholson, Stephen Dorff, Jennifer Lopez, and Michael Caine all show up for this relatively unknown 1996 film about theft, old age, murder, and betrayal. Honestly, they shouldve left this one buried in the sand.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
I think theres a definite reason why not many people know about BLOOD AND WINE, because it thoroughly sucks. Jack Nicholson and Michael Caine, two of the coolest cats around, seem to sleep through their roles. Dorff and Lopez are likeable but its just the mundane wholly unoriginal and uninspired script and dialogue that drowns the movie. Not only have we seen too many films of this type, but they all seem so much better than this version.

Watching BLOOD AND WINE, it becomes piercingly clear that the studio made this because they were sincerely bored to death and needed something to do. I can see the board meeting, Just give us a script before we die of boredom. What was that piece of crap that dude Bob Rafelson gave us? Hey, Jacks bored too. Hell do it! Make the piece of sh*t now! Im sure it went something like that. Everyone looks bored to tears and you will be too if you dare to check this out.
THE EXTRAS
Commentary with Bob Rafelson: Talk about double down! Not only did this guys film bore me to tears, but so did his commentary. His malaise and just un-concise rambling is too much to fathom.

Scene Specific Commentary with Cast Members & Producer: The best part of this DVD is this. Jack, Dorff, and Caine really get into revisiting this film (though I dont know why $$) and it does rub off. Nice job there fellas.

Making of Featurettes: The whole cast and crew come back for a half an hour to reflect on good times which Im sure they were but the film didnt turn out well.

Deleted Scenes: If you didnt like the film, chances are you wont like the deleted scenes. Cha-ching.

Rounding things out theres the films Theatrical Trailer and the Black Widow Trailer.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
BLOOD AND WINE should be avoided at all costs. Its a movie that should have never been made and I cant believe that its stars returned to reflect on it. Jack, I feel bad ripping on any movie your in, but dude! This sucked. Your still the coolest cat in the big H.

>>Final Decision: Avoid at ALL COSTS.
