Sadly, both seemed to have gone totally Hollywood with the rom-com piece of crap, which probably doesnít feature a single genuine laugh. I think Favreau can be forgiven for this, as his work on the IRON MAN films' more than makes up for the occasional misfire. However, as far as Vaughn is concerned, this falls squarely in line with the other crappy rom-coms heís been doing since THE BREAK UP. This is just as bad as FOUR CHRISTMASES, and FRED CLAUS, and itís a real shame Vaughn seems so gung-ho on making these crappy (yet profitable) films. The foul-mouthed rebel from WEDDING CRASHERS is nowhere to be seen here.
Supporting Vaughn, and Favreau is a truly excellent supporting cast, including Kristen Bell, Jason Bateman, and Jean Reno- but none of them get anything worthwhile to do here. The only one who managed to wring any laughs out the film was Peter Serafinowicz (of SPACED, and formerly the voice of Darth Maul), as a GUITAR HERO obsessed resort worker (allowing for ample product placement).
Next up is a lame alternate ending , which neatly wraps up all the storylines in a beyond lame conclusion, which was wisely left on the cutting room floor. Thereís also a boatload of deleted & extended scenes , along with Therapyís Greatest Hits , which is a montage of outtakes from the therapy scenes, featuring more from John Michael Higgins, and Ken Jeong.
Rapping things up are a gag reel , which is funnier than the film, and two featurettes; Behind the Yoga , and Paradise Found: Filming on Bora-Bora .
