WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Larry David, the legendary creator of "Seinfeld", is up to his old shenanigans. Trying to reclaim his ex-wife Cheryl, he hatches a plan to stage a Seinfeld reunion show so he can give her a part, thus getting back in her good graces.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
Like Larry David himself, HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is a difficult thing to categorize. Its a work of fiction, but based on Larrys real life. He plays a character, thats based on himself. Its entirely scripted, but largely improvised. One thing I can say with absolute certainty however is that, even after 7 seasons, the show remains as consistently hilarious as its always been.

The best way to describe Larry David is to imagine yourself, if you had hundreds of millions of dollars, an equal number of fans, and the profound realization that you could literally say anything that was on your mind, to anyone, at anytime. Sure theyd get mad at you, maybe even throw the occasional punch. But at the end of the day, you still have more money (and by default, friends) than you could ever ask for.

As you might imagine, Larry saying and doing anything he wants (combined with the fact that he created Seinfeld, and thus is naturally hilarious) leads to a lot of great, relatable comedy. Whats miraculous about the show is that it never evolves. Each season is nearly indistinguishable from the last, and yet, it doesnt lose its freshness. In fact, theres something refreshing about watching a man stick to his guns in the face of so much criticism.

What does however distinguish this season from the rest is that this year, David took the epic step of writing the cast of Seinfeld into the plot, and hashing out a fake reunion show, which millions of loyal Seinfeld fans have been clamoring for ever since the show went off the air. Granted, the end result is not a full-fledged Seinfeld reunion, but perhaps an equally satisfying fictional behind the scenes look. Jerry Seinfeld himself, whom Ive always been just kinda ambivalent about, is hilarious throughout the season, and Michael Richards, Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Jason Alexander all do a fantastic job of making fun of themselves as well.

If youre already a fan of Curb or Seinfeld, you owe it to yourself to give this season a go. If youre a newbie to the hilarity, this is one of the easier shows to pick up and watch without having to know too much backstory.
THE EXTRAS
Rebuilding the Seinfeld sets (11:10) - A fun featurette about resurrecting the legendary Seinfeld living room and the diner sets, using tons of materials from the actual original sets. A little longer than it needs to be though.

Larry David as George Costanza (2:45) - Discusses the well known fact that Larry David modeled Jason Alexanders character after himself.

The Seinfeld Reunion (8:14) - Just 8 more minutes of the cast talking about the Seinfeld reunion. Nothing super funny or fascinating here but probably entertaining for huge Seinfeld fans.

A Seinfeld moment on Curb (7:38) - And yet another conversation with the cast and Larry David (this time they sit together) reflecting on their Seinfeld reunion experience. These really all coulda been combined into one special feature.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
A must-watch for all Seinfeld fans, grumpy Jews like myself, and those looking for something intelligent and unique in their comedy, this is the type of program you can watch over and over and still find new things to laugh at. It's not TV. It's Larry David.
