WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
A brother and sister fresh off a Casino score get into a car accident and split up as they to brave a harsh winter storm in the boones while dodging the cops. Their planned reunion begins to unravel when unforeseen circumstances and people, get in their way.
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?
DEADFALL is another prime example of well known actors and actresses getting together to make a film no one's heard of, which is okay because it's not that great to begin with. I'll admit that I didn't loathe this movie, and maybe I'm beating a dead horse here because yes, I do say this a lot, but damn if this flick doesn't bring anything new or interesting to the table. I get it guys, no idea is completely original these days and that's fine, but make an effort to at least have the characters, story, ending or overall theme somewhat differ from everything that's come before it. In this case, it's all the same.

I like Eric Bana, dude's underrated in my book, and I don't mind him as a villain, he was definitely enjoying himself, but his good and evil were a little uneven. He has no problem shooting guys in the face, or killing someone for their snowmobile (loved the loss of his finger), but then he's got a soft spot for kids and a woman in a sour relationship--he even throws some money down in her purse before leaving. Don't get me wrong, I love a villain I can love, but he never comes off as pure evil, despite trying to sell himself that way. Charlie (Jax) Hunnam pretty much plays his SONS OF ANARCHY counterpart, Jax Teller, here with the exception of being a boxer rather than a biker (he even does the Jax strut. I love that). The rest of the cast are all great, but "ho-hum" and for God sakes stop putting Treat Williams in movies, he's all kinds of terrible.

DEADFALL suffers from unoriginal material littered with cliches, oddities (what was up with that kid telling Bana to leave his sister alone? That shit was creepy as hell) and so much predictability it's painful. Even the presence of Olivia Wilde's boob wasn't enough to change my mind (it was the highlight of the film though). The love story Wilde and Hunnam "create" is way too forced and unbelievable considering how action packed with issues Wilde's character is (I mean seriously, after GAME OF THRONES hit TV every story seems to have a little incest in it). Jay's family issues felt awkward (loved Jay's parents despite it all) and the whole Daddy/daughter cop crap was just plain lame (like he'd really go in there guns blazing like that). I loved Bana's dialogue and again, he was enjoying his role, this being pretty much the only thing worth seeing in this movie...and Olivia's boob.
THE EXTRAS
Production Interviews: Bana and Wilde go on and on about how great and original the script is, guess they never saw FARGO or any of the dozens of films this one imitates. There's also an extended interview with director Stefan Ruzowitsky who calls the movie a "well written thriller with sex and all it needs." Well said.

Behind the Scenes Footage: There's eight minutes of snowy weather on set. I'm Canadian, I even I think it looks damn cold out there.

AXS TV: A Look at Deadfall: We get a five minute promo reel with bits of the film as well as cast input which is pretty much already covered in their interviews.

Previews: There's a theatrical trailer for the film as well as a handful of other previews.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
This flick has a distinct FARGO feel to it, which made me want to love it, but FARGO it's not and if you're anything like me, you'll be yawning at the same ol', same ol', scenarios as they continue to present themselves.
