WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Vince Vaughn discovers he has 533 kids. That's way too many!!!!
IS IT A GOOD MOVIE?

DELIVERY MAN is Vince Vaughn's best movie in a long time. Though given his track record of THE INTERNSHIP, THE WATCH, THE DILEMMA, COUPLES RETREAT, FOUR CHRISTMASES and FRED CLAUS, that's not exactly saying much.

I do appreciate that Vaughn was shooting for something a little more dramatic this go-around. He's still playing the same fast-talking, perpetual man-child (complete with commitment issues!), but at least it's in service of a story with actual characters and plot. And though it's a fairly gimmicky idea, it's executed in a heartfelt way and Vaughn is able to sell the serious along with the funny. It also doesn't hurt that writer/director Ken Scott, who helmed the original French-Canadian film STARBUCK, is the one to remake his own movie.

However, while it's a harmless, entertaining watch, DELIVERY MAN isn't a movie I see the need to revisit anytime soon. It's predictable humor and schmaltzy melodrama is inoffensive, but not particularly special. (You can guess pretty much every gag, character development and plot turn well in advance.) Really the only memorable part of the film, aside from the core idea, is "Parks and Recreation" star Chris Pratt as Vaughn's best friend/lawyer. Pratt provides the majority of the movie's actual laughs and seeing him next to Vaughn just made me miss the dynamic actor we met in SWINGERS and CLAY PIGEONS.

THE EXTRAS

Building Family: This 15-minute fluff piece sees the cast/crew talk up Vaughn and chronicles how they found all the actors to play his children.

Vince Vaughn: Off The Cuff: A short featurette showing off Vaughn's improv skills.

Bloopers: Wacky hijinks from the set!

Deleted Scene: One short scene featuring Vaughn and his pot farm.

FINAL DIAGNOSIS

DELIVERY MAN doesn't deliver anything special as a dramedy, except the fact that it's a Vince Vaughn movie that's not terrible.

Extra Tidbit: Chris Pratt gained 60 pounds for this role before getting ripped for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
